I had BCAA for several years, no claims, even got some loyalty points and all. But when I did have a flood in my kitchen. All things changed. I got a contracted claims adjuster that didn't even have my policy. Explained more about what I was not going to get than what I would. Even went as far as telling me to move into my tenants' apartment while they were evacuated. I think that is illegal. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, that all was put on the policy. And now I have to get out because there is asbestos in the walls and I have nowhere to go. All the options I found for accommodations were turned down by the adjuster. It really don't look like they have any intentions to accommodate. Oh, and if you delay, they can depreciate or decline. So with that all being said you would be advised to look around, for me BCAA was not a good choice.

New Year's 2021 we had a fire from an explosion of fondue fuel. In the morning (Jan 1) we contacted BCAA who made sure the process was fast and easy.
Without hesitation, BCAA assigned a claim number and told us to contact the restoration company (Total Restoration) who immediately started work. BCAA also assigned an Adjuster right away and he answered all our questions as the work proceeded. He also tracked our replacement purchases and all compensation payments were prompt.
We had never before needed to make a claim on household insurance, so we started off being worried. BCAA eliminated all worries at the start and throughout the entire restoration process.
BCAA now has a customer for life.

BCAA assigned a third-party adjuster to my Fire loss claim. Within 2 weeks of dealing with this private company, I was continually harassed to get my statement of loss in and if I had found a new place. The individual even went as far as to tell me how much I should spend on my alternate living accommodations.
I bought my policy through BCAA not to be passed off to a third party. BCAA should do a better job at vetting the contractors they use to deal with their clients.
I am a former loyal customer. I have never filed a claim. As a service industry, BCAA is supposed to serve the customer. Their best interest lies in profit and liability. I decided to rebuild my house on my existing property. BCAA harassed me dozens of times to get dates when this will happen. The City of Vancouver does not provide any definite dates. So BCAA went ahead and changed my policy without my authorization. If they have the right to change my policy, I should have the right to cancel. BCAA does not care about the customer's well-being. They care about their liability and profitability.
I had my basement and have a claim and it needed to be gutted and they kept having miscommunications when they accidentally forgot to tear up a floor when they accidentally forgot to tear up the bathroom when they accidentally forgot to tear up the cupboards when they accidentally forgot to do a number of other small things and it was always excused after excuse and my basement has sat torn apart going on for five months now and they have not moved or done anything about it and nobody is getting back to me …
First, after being a long-term customer of BCAA, my home in Princeton was flooded. Thus, I called the company about all the issues, and of course, my claim was Denied! Then, to add insult to injury, they sent a renewal letter, as if I am going to Trust them again after being left in the literal cold. Finally, I see a TV ad by this corporation asking for money from Others, except them to aid flood victims. It is a ruse! Therefore, they need to step up and take care of their clients instead of pleading help from people who didn't pay the increasing rates for what should be BCAA's responsibility.
I have been a BCAA member for seven years and decided a few years back to use them for my home insurance. That was a mistake.
BCAA are easy to deal with until you need to make a claim at which point they send you down a rabbit hole. You are left to deal with a dreadful organization named ClaimsPro whose only incentive is to minimize the claim and maximize their own commission.
As soon as a claim is smitten BCAA NO LONGER WANTS TO KNOW YOU.
My policy expires next year, I WILL NOT BE RENEWING.
If your insurer uses ClaimsPro and does not have its own adjusters I suggest taking your business elsewhere.
When I first signed up they did not mention anything about a cancellation fee, none of the documents I signed mentioned a cancellation fee either. I'm going through the emails they sent me and there is nothing in there. I'm going to dispute this con with my credit card. Also, they have long wait times on their phone lines.
BCAA home insurance division recommended FirstOnSite for our restoration. Our job was small and in the end a claimed was not made on our insurance. But, BCAA home insurance division was in communication with me about our claim for updates as restoration was happening. Whatever you do DO NOT USE FirstOnSite. I would NOT recommend this company. I also contacted BCAA with feedback about my disappointment with FirstOnSite . Angel seemed very concerned about my complaint and asked me to let her know about the outcome as she had other complaints about the company but, again when I followed up with her she did not respond to my 2 emails. So, I have no faith in BCAA and their quality of service to their customers as well.
I have one regret it’s not looking and comparing price with other companies which I did recently, I should have done it before! I’m saving about 30% to have the same Insurance and even more, so did other people around me. We just told each other!
