In 2016 a driver was texting, ran a red light at 65mph and hit me on my driver side. The drivers' insurance was through Allstate. Allstate reset every hearing we had for over 2 years. This cost me thousands in lost wages and even more in the growing medical debt that THEY made me accrue. Countless MRIs, CAT scans, and x-rays (each time I brought in medical docs and imagery that they requested they denied it and had me find another specialist for different docs) From what I was told by legal team, they do this when their client is 100% dead to rights liable for everything. When we finally did get in the same room, they treated me like a child. They refused to pull the driver's phone records and denied my bodily injury claim because there was no blood. They didn't take me seriously at all, instead they acted like a typical insecure man with a bruised ego. All I initially requested was for them to pay the ER bills and other medical debt, which started around 40k and grew over 180k after all the additional visits. I also asked for a new vehicle ( I didn't ask for the loss of my totaled vehicle as I was taking the honest route and utilized my gap insurance-which ended in a class action against Wells Fargo) and lastly a feasible settlement to cover the 6 weeks I lost following the wreck, the debt I accrued from reset court dates, and a negotiable amount for the future rehab and doctor visits for my lifelong injuries, until I could manage on my own. They said no, we'll give you 14k. Mind you, me and the other driver had full coverage and our min liability was 60+k. I demanded a grand jury. If anyone with at least one brain cell looked the case, they'd rule in my favor. The next time we met, they told me they spoke to the prosecutor (or whoever) and the deal was that since I demanded a grand jury they had the option to offer their minimum payout which voided my right to a trial. After about an hour of talking to brick walls in suits, they made me sign the agreement for 20~k. Luckily my lawyer reduced her fee, so I left with 18k. I was never able to pay my medical debt. I still can't afford physical therapy, doctor visits, or insurance. I used the money sparingly to keep my head over water... Then 2020 happened. I was not allowed to work, and I didn't make enough to qualify for govt compensation because of how little I made in the previous years due to battling Allstate. I'm currently working with a credit team to help reduce the 17k of debt I have. I'm only 32, the only support I have is my wife, who unfortunately has to watch me suffer through daily pain and can't do a thing about it. Allstate could have handled this with at least one modicum of morality, humanity, or logic, but instead chose to turn a 25-year-old into a broken old man. I also suffer from depression and manic bipolarism which has spiked since the accident. They took so much from me. I was a victim of an irresponsible driver, backed by a greedy company who belittled me, unnecessarily attacked me, and left me feeling stripped of my rights and freedoms. The only peace I get is knowing that the soulless people who were involved in my case will eventually get their karma. I know this review won't make any difference, but I hope that more people like me with step up and share their story. Also, next time you get in a wreck, make sure you bloody yourself up real good, or it doesn't matter.
My partner was involved in an accident that was deemed to be 100% the other parties fault. There is honestly so many horrible things that have occurred (in regards to Allstate’s customer service), that it is impossible to fit this into a single review.
Long story short, it took over a month for an adjuster to reach out. They low-balled the repair costs, resulting it going into the shop, and them claiming it was a write off. They offered no car rental. They then offered 50% market value of the vehicle, which we disputed. Over 3 months later, and being escalated several times to the “top of the claims department” we have been ignored. Best part? After waiting for a respectable offer, the heads of the claims department expressed a dire interest to leave lawyers out of this situation, and then offered us $1.68 less than the original offer for the pain and suffering through this ordeal. This is honestly insulting, and those who pretend to care should be ashamed.
We have reached out to our personal lawyer and are in the process of filing a lawsuit.
To summarize, this company is a scam. No one in this company cares about their customers and will fight tooth and nail to rip you off.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Please note they don't refund the deductible if you had an accident with a person. Why because they can not claim against the third person so your money would not be refunded. Very unfair! It is not acceptable.
Very very unfair. And the supporting thing is that it is not in your agreement.
Someone smashed my car from behind at an intersection and called Allstate. It took a long time but finally got hold of staff and waited for their tow truck to tow the car away. The care was eventually written off and we settled for far less than what the car was worth but needed a car asap. I bought a new car and asked for an estimate which they supplied after given them the vin# and all the necessary info. After picking up the new car, the price jumped up more than 40% than what was quoted. I've been calling them the past one week and they kept tossing me around and sometime won't even pick up my calls. I am so disappointed with them and looking at my options. I guess I will wait till I get to the bottom of this but so frustrating.
Learn from my mistake - AVOID Allstate! In September 2019, I decided to research for an auto insurance provider offering a better rate. After speaking with 6 different providers, I settled with Allstate. However, DO NOT be fooled by their marketing. I got hit by a Dodge Caravan, on June 12th, 2020 after performing a left turn. The driver was driving way past a 30km limit, in a construction zone. Had he respected his speed limit, AND kept his right lane, this accident could have been avoided (I am convinced he passed a red light). My rear driver door was completely smashed in, but all he got was minor bumper damage on his right side. Yet, Allstate, declared me 100% responsible. In my 20+ years of driving, with only no-fault accidents, and having worked as a driving instructor, I am appalled. The driver who hit me was not only responsible but he was rude and he omitted important information on the Joint Accident Report. It's ridiculous that an insurance company won't consider the action of this reckless driver, especially considering a lack of character by not fully completing a document. To make matters worse, my long-term garage was not part of their Authorized Dealers. I found this extremely odd as every other insurance company ALWAYS referred me to them. Due to this, I received a cheque in the mail (minus my deductible) prior to even getting my car back!!! Who mails out a cheque when the work has not been completed? A savings of $5/mth has resulted in unnecessary stress and time working on contesting an accident that was clearly not my fault. Now I am out-of-pocket of a $500 deductible and a premium increase. All the while, Mr. White Dodge, continues to drive recklessly since he omitted his insurance company name and driver's licence on the report. Note to self: if your instinct tells you something is wrong, call the cops! FYI: I will be contesting this Allstate decision.

I have been a client of Allstate Insurance since 2007, holding both an auto and a renter’s policy. I have not had to deal with a claim until Sunday, December 15, 2019, when our car was rear-ended on a Sunday morning. My wife and I were both shaken up but basically not injured. The rear end of the car was damaged, but it could be driven, the seat belts, however, did not function because of the severity of the impact. We got the car to our dealership and I informed Allstate through a message to my agent and I emailed him copies of my police statement, as well as the official police report of the incident. Monday morning at 7:00 I was at the dealership, where they had already been in touch with Allstate, which gave immediate authorization for car rental to an amount of $900.00. A rental was quickly arranged by the body shop staff, and I received a ride to the rental agency. I was mobile by 8:00 am. An adjuster called later that day to make sure we were OK, and to let me know that the other driver’s insurance company was on-side and would assume costs. By mid-week the adjuster had seen the car and approved the repair estimate, which was around $8,500.00. Parts were ordered, but this was Christmas time, and some parts had to be shipped in. The anticipated completion date was December 31st. In the meantime a representative from the claims office in Toronto, I believe – was in touch with us, explaining the process and wanting to make sure things were proceeding, and that we were both OK. We had both seen our doctor to be checked out. I had no ill effects, but my wife was experiencing some pain and discomfort across her shoulders and upper chest, which set in motion calls and questions from an Accident Benefits Advisor, which in turn resulted in authorization a series of chiropractic treatments. The car was finished, and I picked it up on December 30th, and here ends my story, except to say that I could not be more satisfied with the efficiency, thoroughness and follow-up from Allstate and my G.M. dealership.
Every review has a story behind it. I'll try my best to tell our story, more facts, less comments.
Nov 8, 2016, the day of US general election, the 3rd day after the time change(daylight savings to standard). It was a wet evening. The visibility was not good. That was pretty much the circumstance in which we were involved in the traffic accident.
I won't discuss any of the accident details here. Just want to say at the time we just switched our insurance policy from a company with which we had been for 20 years without any at our fault claim. The accident occurred after I made a left turn on a green light.
After the accident , a tow truck driver asked me, "who are you insured with?" "Allstate " I answered. The driver then said: good. The voice was light, but the tone was firm. For us, it was not so optimistic.
The car was no longer drive-able , so we got a rental car onsite.
The next morning we reported the accident to the company, telling them about the rental car. The claim process started smoothly. Due to the fact that the car was a leased one, there were some communications among insurance , leasing company and us. There were no hard questions. The staff were helpful & dedicated.
The car ended up being a total write off. We got the green light to lease a new car in a timely manner. On Nov 20, we got a newly leased car, less than two weeks after the accident so we could return the rental car before long.
The car was fairly valued as far as we were concerned.
There was no dispute during the whole process which was beyond our expectations.
Our policy will be due for renewal in August this year. We are optimistic about our future with Allstate.
Unlike most of the other reviews, I was lucky enough to have a good experience with Allstate. After I had my accident, they moved quickly to process my claim, and I was provided with a rental car within the hour. As I did not have collision on the vehicle, I had to pay the first few days of the rental car out of pocket until Allstate could determine I was not at fault, which I wasn't. Allstate very promptly contacted the police officer who attended the scene, and after determining I was not at fault, they immediately started covering the cost of the rental for another 5 days, and within a week, I was reimbursed for the 3 days I had to cover the rental myself. The insurance adjuster gave me a fair price for my car, and I received that check within days as well .My claim was wrapped up within a week, and I was happy with the way they handled it.
I have been several insurance companies. Never go to State Farm or Guarantee of North America - both are horrible at claim time arrogant cheap and treat u like a cost. At Allstate I got a more than a fair price for a very old SUV. Also they gave me rental asap and were fair with a new policy on a new car. Only the customer service toll free were abrupt when you try and bargain.
Allstate has provided us with reliable and consistent service. They processed our claim quickly and full paid our claims.
