This place is a joke

by Jillian Currie on Dec 19, 2020

My broker gave me less than 24 hours notice that my policy was being cancelled... In the middle of a pandemic... Now I'm paying $100 less at a better company than what I've been paying for 15 years with your company..... Because I was loyal..... But you weren't loyal to me during this pandemic..... Good riddance......my life is better now

Worse company

by Doug on Feb 6, 2020

My father had passed in Dec 2019 I went to my local broker to cancel the policy that was up for renewal in Jan 2020. The cancellation went through with a confirmed letter in plenty of time. However, when Feb rolled around the payments continued to come out. When I went to my broker they informed me that Intac would repay the amount but it would take 2-3 weeks to process. This is both finally hard on my mother and stressful. Yet the insurance company offered little to no consideration to my family

RIPOFFS/THIEVES

by Rav on Feb 1, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

I had insurance with these thieves for 2 years. Luckily never made any claims, who knows how much pain I would have gone through if I had to claim after reading the reviews here. OK, let me tell my story here: I bought insurance for my 2 cars and home with Intact. WITHIN 3 months they increased my premium $30/month, then in the next 3 months went up another $30/month, YET another $30/month in another 3 months. Within 9 months(that's is after I bought the insurance for a YEAR) they increased my premium $90/month(this is EVEN before it renewed)... Never had any accident/claim before or after I bought insurance from these thieves! I called up and asked them WHY, here is the answer they gave me (laugh if you feel like): IF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL AS MY VEHICLE gets into an accident, they would increase the premium for ANYONE insured with that same make and model of the vehicle!!! I asked them if I can cancel the insurance... they said I have to pay 2 months premium as PENALTY!... So I decided to stay until it expires.... then when the renewal was coming up I called up and see if they can reduce my premium... Guess what they were going to increase the premium even $100 a month MORE upon the renewal WHICH THEY NEVER EVEN would have told me IF I didn't call them up... then... they PRETENDED like they are concerned and asked all my records (with they already HAVE)... and gave me a renewal quote for $5/month more than I paid previously. Another reason they gave me for the increase in premium is that INFLATION! Can this be believed? WHAT the inflation of the economy is 300% a year!? STAY AWAY from them! Get insurance ELSEWHERE!

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Bad company.

Bad company. Avoid using them. I'm insured through them, the only thing I changed on my policy is I moved from Leduc to Spruce Grove. They raised my insurance from 2216 a year to over 2700, just cause I moved. I called another insurance company and they quoted me 2100. Once my penalty for cancelling is lower I am gone.

Expensive+ "Cancellation Fee"!

by Uber1 on Sep 25, 2019

Outrageous abuse. This Intact Insurance for Uber drivers is extremely expensive. If at any point you decide to cancel, they will even charge you a "Cancellation Fee"!!! Also, be aware that Intact share your personal information with the Police, in case you miss a monthly payment. Extremely abusive monopoly and invasion of privacy. They need to be sued collectively to reimburse for so many abuses!

Letter of claims experience

by Gloria on Jul 30, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I was with Intact for 5 years, and there was absolutely no phone call from them about an outstanding bill, then issued payment, only for them to auto deduct the payment again, if that pay had been successful, they wouldn't have had an issue I guess, but since that payment was not successful, they cancelled my account. Keeping in mind two attempts to pay the outstanding bill. Then the lady I spoke to was absolutely rude. Then I decided to cancel the policy with them. This was my first outstanding bill in 5 years with them. Now that I'm looking to commit myself to another insurance company, the insurance companies cannot access my Insurance history for whatever reasons known to Intact only. I was forced to request for a Letter of claims experience, only to be told that a mere letter takes 3 weeks to draft (how inefficient is this, I don't care how busy you are, its just a letter). My premiums went up every single year for the 5 years I was with intact, paying over $20,000 in premiums with them and all they could pay me back was make my insurance information inaccessible. I will never recommend this company to anyone, including, my relatives, friends, acquaintances, and anyone...

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Unfair practice

by Ex Intact clients on Jun 21, 2019

We recently sold our condo and purchased a detached house. We contacted our home and auto insurer, Intact, and asked them to quote on the new house. They wouldn’t insure us for flood damage, which we knew we needed and wanted, so we had to transfer our policy to a company who would provide that coverage. Intact has penalized us and debited our bank account for cancelling our policy... despite them not willing to provide the coverage, we need. Very unfair, in our opinion.

Intact Insurance

by MS on Apr 5, 2019

As a high school student, and having Intact Insurance as my first insurance company has been the worst experiences by far. I was with them since I was 16 years old, paying $211 a month for my insurance, I am now 18 and all of a sudden they have without telling me or without sending a package in the mail have increased my monthly payment up to $343, in addition to this I have never received a speeding ticket nor have I been in an accident that was my fault. To make things even better I have not reviewed an insurance slip and have been driving without a proper insurance slip for a month now and they have not done anything to send me out a new one. When speaking on the phone to multiple insurance brokers I was told as an insurance company they have the right to increase insurance rates, how does an insurance company without notifying their customer to increase someone’s rate by $132 a month! This works out to be $4116 a year for insurance!! The worst part of it all in order to cancel, I must first cancel and then they give you the amount you must pay to leave.. intact insurance has been the biggest scam.. not sure how they can do this to a high school student who works a part-time job.

Intacts screwed me.

After the accident, I was not informed with proper information. After I cancelled the policy, I was still paying auto insurance when I had no vehicle and when I realized and stopped the payment, they slapped me with cancellation for not paying the bill.

Charged AFTER Cancellation!

by Ashlynn on Feb 6, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

The rate I was paying from 2017-2018 was $270 as I was a new driver with my G2 license. From 2018-2019 they decreased my rate to $239 a month, as I got my G license and proved to be a good driver! I received my renewal package at the beginning of January 2019 for the 2019-2020 year, and my rate went up to $290 a month. I was confused as to why there was a $50 increase monthly as I have not changed my address, I’ve never been in an accident and have never received any kind of ticket. I called Intact to see if they could explain to me why there was an increase and I was hung up on and when I finally was able to talk to someone, I was told that everyone’s rate was increasing, but by $50 dollars a month, which I found to be quite ridiculous. After this, I found a new auto insurance and cancelled my insurance with Intact. While cancelling my insurance I asked the broker “will I be charged for the month of February?” His response was “No, your last effective coverage date by Intact is January 31”. Tuesday, February 5, I saw Intact charged my account $290!! Straight away I tried calling, as I was explaining the issue to a broker, I was hung up on again! I decided to call my bank and put a stop payment so that Intact isn’t able to take any more money out of my account and I was refunded my $290 from the bank! Intact is a disgrace of an insurance company, they rob people and when you try and talk to someone, you get the runaround or hung up on! Do NOT give these thieves your money, there are way better companies out there with way better rates AND customer service.
