RUDE AND SLOW

by Save yourself the hassle on Mar 11, 2017

My vehicle was stolen. It took them a week before they said they could even start the claim, so I was stuck for a full week without a vehicle. Took them another 2 weeks before they settled my claim. I don't even remember how many people I spoke to trying to get it settled, but every time I had to call to talk to someone, my adjuster wasn't there and the person I spoke with instead was very condescending (on more than one occasion). They drag their heels on getting paperwork ready, they didn't verify my information and somehow had my email address all misspelled (which is just my name @ email.com) so I wasn't even getting the paperwork when they WERE on it. Then when it came time to finally collect, they said it would be at least another week before I would physically receive my money (not what I was told prior)...which is also a week AFTER I had to return the rental car. So I was stuck without a vehicle for an additional week. I've had to make claims before with other companies and I have never had a runaround like this, had this much inconvenience or was spoken to the way I was with Intact. Dumping these guys as soon as my policy is up. I don't even care if someone else costs more. This is NOT how you treat people who just had something bad happen to them.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

We had a family vehicle that was stolen from us. When we got it back, the inside of it was a mess. Intact initially told us that we can either get 9000$ back and our car back so we can repair it on our own with our own mechanic or they can give back 10000$ and not the vehicle. We went with the first option took our car to a mechanic but we came to realize they didn't give us an authority paper which says that we are allowed to repair it on our own means. Initially, the people told us that they'd get back to us and how it was their fault for not sending the required documents and instead labelling our car as "salvation". Later on, we tried getting in contact with the lady and every day a voicemail with our name and number was left for OVER A MONTH. In that period of time, she NEVER got back to us. One day we called her at a different time and she picked up and told us that she'd get back to us again. I think it had been like 3-4 months when she picked up the phone FINALLY. So today we finally get a call back for once and she tells us that she's sorry but our vehicle is a total loss and we won't be able to repair it. THEY TOOK 1000$ BUCKS FROM US. THEY LIE. THEIR COMMUNICATION IS HORRIBLE. SAVE UR TIME AND PATIENCE AND GO TO SOMEONE ELSE. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Been through such a thought time in a mini 5 seater when we have a family of 8 these past few months. 2 trips all the time. SAVE YOURSELF.

Worst company ever

They will try to write your car off for a minor fender bender. Offer you a low amount for the car. If you fight to have car repaired and succeed. They will cancel you with only 21 days notice by registered mail if you have had 2 or more at fault accidents within 6 years. Don't use them they are horrible.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Absolutely terrible experience

Save yourself a ton of stress, do yourself a favour and do not give your business to intact insurance. I was in a rollover incident that rendered my vehicle a total loss. It has been nearly a month and the cheque was just issued yesterday, and due to negligence it will not arrive for nearly 2 more weeks.

Aside from the outrageous wait, it was nearly impossible to get ahold of our claims adjuster 9 time out of 10. The customer service was not inviting or helpful. We are extremely frustrated and will immediately be cancelling our insurance in Alberta with Intact when this nightmare is put to rest.

Do yourself a huge favour, and don't even bother calling for a quote.

Rip off artists!!

I was in an accident on January 9th, it took them 20 days to get a hold of me to make an appointment to view my vehicle. I was not at fault for my accident. It then took another ten days for them to tell me that I was able to go for chiropractor work along with them writing my vehicle off because of the damage. After trying to find out what to do it took them another 12 days to"make me an offer" (I was told what I would be getting and basically told if I disagree they would lower it) After that they told me that I had 3 business days to return my rental car. I then phoned them as I have not received the cheque on the day. I had to return the rental car they told me they had just issued the cheque and said it could take 2 to 5 business days to get to me. I am now having to pay for a rental out of pocket, can not afford the rental or to buy a new car because my loan has not been paid off until I get the cheque. Do not waste your money, they lied to me over and over during my claim, they will not help you or provide any sort of service. If I could give a negative rating I would!

Quoted me a good price, signed up for said price; got charged WAY more.
Told me payments come out on the 1st of every month, took the money out 3 days early causing me insufficient funds and a NSF charge.
Agent that was spoke with tried to blame me for not having money in my account "at all times" because I "will never know when it will be needed"
MONEY HUNGRY COMPANY!!!

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Ever have a claim Good Luck!

Customer service is sub-par. claims adjuster(s) tell you better to email them to get a response faster yet you either get a response from 1-3 days later or receive NO response at all. The claims adjuster's appear not to let you know what is taking place re: your claim-do not follow-up with you-you have to chase them down to get any info. my experience is 2 weeks after accident and I still do not have any definite answer on what is going on with the claim-car is undrivable and sitting at a bodyshop.

Cancellation

Very poor customer relations. Very poor business practice. I called to cancel my policy BEFORE my payment date. They still pulled the money out. $150. So I emailed them and they said a cheque would be mailed out with the return. Instead I get a letter saying I owe them $30 on top of the $150 they robbed from me. They stole $180 from me. Never use these guys. Oh! Also they like to hang up on you and when I proceeded to call back it went straight to voicemail twice. Extremely shady business practice.

Life Ruining Company

by CarLessJoe on Dec 19, 2016

Wow where to start.

I went via a broker. I was given Intact as a suitable option for my Sedan. I was told I was covered for every eventuality imaginable, (including first accident forgiveness) - So it sounded like a dream come true so i decided to move my other car, an SUV and my home insurance policy to them also.

This was in Feb 2016. In May 2016, when i had an "at fault accident" (Which, wasn't even my fault, I was directed by construction workers who were blocking the entrance to my lane, and following their hand signals, i slightly scraped the side of my car on an invisible concrete bollard which nobody could see either in mirrors or blind spots)

So, i called Intact to ask if i should claim or not, and they insisted i did. They seemed so caring at the time. They insisted i used their recommended body shop, they insisted they give me a top of the range courtesy car whilst they "repaired" mine. Their "body shop" insisted that i needed a new Passenger front car door (i clearly didn't, it was only a scratch - but i went with it) i trusted them again. The new car door apparently cost almost $5000 (yet, i can almost guarantee that any other body shop would have repaired it for not even a fraction of that cost, and there was no need to replace it)

Everything seemed to be fine and months and months later (December) I got a letter from my broker saying Intact had refused to renew my policy, as i had an "At Fault Accident within my first 4 years". At this stage, i queried the "First Accident Forgiveness " that I had thought i had, but they said i didn't qualify for it for not being insured with them for over 4 years!! I then asked why it was mentioned in the phone call to the broker, and they said I had to prove it. I said, well since you record all phone calls, i suggest you pull the call and listen... but they refused saying it was my fault because i didn't read the "small print" of my policy. I begged and begged them, but they simply said no.

I am now in a position where i will lose both of my cars as I cant afford a new company that my broker found, the payments to Insure the cars are now 3 times more than the payments FOR THE CARS. So, I am going to lose my cars, and in tern, my job, so potentially, i am going to lose my home.... all because they conned me into making a claim on a feature that i did not qualify for in the first place!!

Oh - and to add insult to injury, we took part in the driving Discount program and had devices installed into both cars, I qualified for a 16% discount, my other half 18% discount due to "good driving" - however, it was totally pointless, they refused to renew so YOU LOSE THE WHOLE LOT!!

I am disgusted with Intact and advise everyone to stay well clear of them. They are the cowboys of the industry and are ruining peoples lives. I hate to think how many people they have put into the situation i am in. Car less, Job Less, and soon to be homeless. All at Christmas time too! Thanks Intact. You must feel so proud of your despicable selves.

Worst expirance of my life

by Look69ing on Dec 9, 2016

Worst ever. Been dragging on for 4 months too much to explain about collecting. On a hit and run accident that wasn't my fault. And witnesses were there and caught the guy. He admitted to everything and was charged through court faster than I've been paid out. My truck isn't drivable. And haven't had wheels now for 110 days. Never return phone calls. Always changing adjusters. Etc etc. Save your money. Or pay a bit more for a different company. I'm not with intact but the at fault hit and run driver is with intact.
