The worst customer service

Rates went up immediately upon renewal. While I love their commercials, they only seem interested in gaining new clients and not retaining old ones. Because rent and groceries are insane - every penny helps these days so I'm not just going to pay an extra $400 a year just "because rates went up" I had no tickets or claims. They would be a great company if they cared about existing customers.
Some of the agents are super incompetent and they straight up lie regarding the policy and the pricing. I had a terrible experience with them and I'm never going back
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Belair's original quote was $124.00 a month. I specifically stated that they were to withdraw the money on the 30th of every month. Without my knowledge they withdrew
$233.99 from my bank account 2 days later.
What made me discover this?
Three days after they took the money out of my account, I received a cancellation of my insurance letter.
This is what Belair Insurance Company does to seniors with low incomes.
So essentially I received 5 days of coverage for $233.99.
Now they have me in collections for $1617.00.
P.S. I never had a claim in my life of driving for 50 years.
I was in an accident and they said I would go to a zero star rating and the toral cost to insure would be $285. Then when I went to cancel they told me I would be at a 5 star rating and I have built in accedent forgiveness. They told me the cost of my new car would be about $170. Now that the year is up they said they would charge me $285 to insure my car and that was a 5 star rating. Clearly they are charging a zero star rating price. When I check other car insurance quotes. Someone with a 5 star rating would pay about $158.
Belair had technical issues so for two months payments weren't coming out. I eventually wondered why this was and I had to reach out to them TWICE. Bottom line my lump sum each month is now more to make up for the mistake THEY made. They had my direct deposit and now I have to pay extra every month even though this was their fault. Avoid at all costs. Can't wait to switch insurance providers after a year and can't wait to find out how much more money they are going to screw me over in the mean time. 0/10 do NOT reccommend.
Cancelled insurance because their app was not working and i could not get my documents ever they said they mailed it to me but i never got it and they refused to provide me info on how much i got discounted for the driving school i went to i had to cancel midterm and they asked me to pay 520 dollars to cancel and i said no and they threatened to send me to debt collectors after tons of arguments i got the cancel price down to 300 and left my insurance history is not ruined but screw these scammers.
The quote they give you online is not even close to the actual amount. You need to call them and go through the whole process again and my quote was almost $100 more per month with little to no changes in my information. They also don't let you view the quote you got online ever again even when you ask for it.
Please don't waste your time with these people like I did. The overall review rating on this page says it all!
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Belair retroactively altered my insurance policy, increasing fees and adding conditions, even though there were no changes to the house they've insured for years.

I recently needed to speak with Bel-air’s customer service because my credit card had expired, I forgot to update them with the new expiration date. I received a notice in the mail about this. And, called them immediately. They proceeded to tell me I was on notice for cancellation for non payment. I have been a customer of theirs for 10 years. This is the first time I’ve had this issue or any issue. The rep told me I’d have to pay 2 NSF fees. I protested, because it was a simple card error. Had someone called me instead of MAILING me a notice. This would have resolved immediately. The agent was rude. He claimed he’d waive one of the fees but, then had to charge me a reinstatement fee, which I argued is ridiculous because my insurance isn’t cancelled. He offered me zero extra help. When I asked to speak with a manger. He put me on hold. Then said they’d call me back… maybe in 2 days. But, he couldn’t guarantee. It’s been 4 days. No call. I don’t expect one either. I called a friend who works in insurance she informed me, they are conducting unethical practice by charging 2 NSF fees. I have paid everything they wanted because I can’t have a cancellation due to non payment and I’m moving all my insurance needs to another provider. Bel-Air’s slightly lower rates = the worst customer service.
I’ve already moved my home insurance from them after a horrible experience when I needed help from them. Don’t waste your time or money here.
