They increase your premium by 40% without a good reason, BTW, no claim history for 13 years

They suddenly increased my home insurance by 40% without reasonable explanation, I am 13 year loyal client, without any claim for so many years, the renewal notice showed their raise of premium for this year is 40% higher than last year. I called and questioned the agent, the agent was not able to give me a good explanation, and the attitude is really rude. I chose to cancel the policy with TD Insurance, recommend you to do the same thing too.

Worst customer service

I have tried for several days to get a hold of a TD representative to tell me why my insurance has gone up with absolutely no luck; each time I waited nearly an hour, either they hang up or I gave up waiting. I am glad I haven't had to submit a claim, I will definitely switch!

Guinness Longest Wait Time

I was with TD insurance for 3 years and I cannot recommend this company at all. Every time I call them I would be put on hold for hours.
Each year they would increase the premium despite I made no claim and after 3 years it went up 50%. So I called them and cancelled a few days before the renewal day (was on hold for 3 hours). Despite that, they still took money from my account and no refund yet after 6 weeks. I tried to call them for follow-up but I was put on hold again for 4 hours and the line just dropped.
Funny that they wrote "the amount will be deposited in your account shortly" in the cancellation notice.

Zero Customer Service

10+ Year Multi-Home Policy Customer here, my renewal premiums went up by over 50%, so of course called to see why and perhaps make some changes. Spent hours and hours and hours on hold trying to talk to someone about this. Twice I was disconnected right as someone was finally getting to me. I tried the chat function, spent hours there as well. Sent an email on their secure platform, nothing. They have taken disgraceful customer service to a whole new level. Unbelievable. I had no choice but to take my business elsewhere after being a loyal 10+ no claim multi home-policy carrier. Interestingly when getting other quotes, every other insurer was able to answer their phones, and I had no problem getting a much much lower quote, more comprehensive as well. I can't even get ahold of them to cancel my renewal. What a joke. Disgraceful, they don't care about me, clearly, or anyone else who's trying to connect with them. Thank GOD I didn't have to rely on them to settle a claim. PS. I called their claim number in desperation and could not get service there either. What a joke. Be warned! Go ANYWHERE else.

Huge Rate Hikes, fees

by Liam J on Nov 27, 2020

I had a minor claim and my TD insurance went up over $500.00 a year and has kept going up significantly. I even changed my deductible and a few other things to keep the rates as low as I can but continued to pay over $2000.00 a year.
Then I had a break-in and couldn't even do a claim. My $3000.00 bike was stolen and TD only covers $500.00 for your bike maximum no matter what it is worth. So we didn't even do the claim.
I called them at the end of September to explain we would need less than 2 months' coverage. So after the 2 months, I see a final payment of $199.15. I call and it cannot be changed or reversed and is the cancellation fee...

Doubled my Home Insurance!

by Ticked Off Insured Person on Oct 14, 2020

We moved to a much smaller less valuable house and my insurance went from 148 a month to 353 a month, and they could not tell me why. One agent said, "maybe it is your location"? I have tried to get through to TD as well - I have been on hold for 1.5 hours now and have still not spoken to anyone. Marvellous customer service for sure...
