I submitted a claim to repair a slight fender bender with my car.
This was easy to do online.
And Belair responded quickly.
But to activate the repair process, Belair insisted that my vehicle must be purged of license plates and any personal possessions.
The agent that I waited 2 hours to speak to had not taken 1 minute to read the police report which suggested that the damages were restricted to a cracked fender which might cost $2500 to repair.
The agent, without looking at a single photo, kept telling me that the car was a "write off" and she was insistent that the car should be towed at their expense to their own graveyard facility and written off.
Doubtless, she has never heard of the felonious nature of "bad faith" laws.
I will keep this notification anonymous until Belair has written off this vehicle and then I will pay for the trivial repairs and launch my legal action.
I waited two hours to speak to their Bolivian call center before I got through. These are two hours of my life which I will never get back!
The Belair agent kept filling me with doom and gloom.
The entire experience was a nightmare.
I dread the worst in their final report.
Any car can be repaired!
That is the reason we buy insurance.
The overestimation of repair costs in Belair's ceaseless quest to write vehicles off will likely land this agent with a $100,000 fine...
Avoid this corrupt enterprise at all costs!
A single scratch on your Mercedes will cost you the entire value of the car.
That assumes you have the patience to wait 2 hours to speak to the part-time casual staff in their Bolivian call center.
In times of crisis, we count on insurers to diminish anxiety not to manufacture it.
We were with Johnson’s and Belair bought them or amalgamated, not sure. We have experienced the same issues with Belair as many others on this page. The customer service is terrible, on hold for a minimum of an hour. The customer service agent my husband spoke with was condescending and when he asked for a supervisor the fellow said, sorry, I won’t put you through to one. We wrote a letter advising them that if we didn’t hear from a supervisor within a week, we would not be renewing our insurance. We didn’t receive a reply. It makes us wonder how we would be treated if we submitted a claim. We will not be renewing, even if we have to pay more elsewhere. Do yourselves a favor and don’t deal with them.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Thought this company was 1st class, my premium was in review in underwriting, had to call 4 times for an update. My premium was increased for no reason, good driving record. Needless to say, looking elsewhere. 2 thumbs down.
- Switched me to paperless Without My Permission, so I didn't get the documents I needed. I couldn't access them online, as I didn't have internet.
- Also, kept adding additional coverage I DIDN'T ASK FOR every cycle, have to call and wait for hours every year to get them to take it off.
- App is pure dystopia. My privacy is worth more than $50 a year. Agents very rude if you refuse it.
- At least it's cheap. As long as you remember to call every year and refuse whatever they added. Good luck getting through to a human, and you can't refuse their add-ons with the web page.
I've never written an angry review in my life. I've also never made an insurance claim in my life. These guys take over, and I've had nothing but misery. If you can find it cheaper elsewhere, get it. Don't get the app, it's a scam.
My son has moved out of the country, so I want to remove him from the auto policy coverage. However, removing a driver is not feasible through Belair Direct's website or their phone app. I need to call their Customer Service. Well, it's been a week now that I've been trying every day at a different time, hoping to be answered and get this done and over with. And every time I called, I waited for (give or take) an hour before abandoning the call. I'm writing this review while listening to that boring on-hold music. Their rate may be competitive, but based on this experience alone, I may look around at renewal time.
Every time I call, I wait over an hour. I've called 10 times, so roughly over 12 hours of wasted time. Not to mention, they're crazy expensive and do NOT deserve your time or money!!!!
Can't get a hold of ANYONE to change my address. Literally was on hold for 2 HOURS and nobody picked up..
Have both home and auto for two cars. I made two home claims as a result of a Windstorm one year, then a fish tank water damage the next year. The claims process was very good, fast, and handled perfectly. However, afterwards, they would not renew my home insurance because of having two claims, then my vehicle insurance went WAY up. They could not reduce the cost of the auto, so I got car insurance significantly cheaper elsewhere. The problem was, I could not get the auto renewal to not happen because I could not get through to an agent on the phone - been on hold for well over an hour, numerous times, trying and get it cancelled. And you cannot do it online, it tells you to call. I'm still trying to get through on the phone and get it cancelled. Ridiculously long wait times on the phone to speak with anyone, and they have no call back feature set up..
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Waiting time is too long to get in contact with an agent, just to cancel my policy.
Agents keep redirecting me to different people to solve the same problem.
No one responds, either by email or phone. I have waited over two hours to talk with someone but no answer. Emails are not responded to. Take your business elsewhere where real people deal with you.
