My Vehicle was hit 3 times in 4 years. The first time the driver stayed and all information were exchanged, he admitted FULL fault to me and the police. The second time the driver took off, the third time AVIVA refused to cover it (surprise) I had to pay for it. I was not in my vehicle any of the times it was hit by another driver making it NO FAULT of mine. Then a rock hit my windscreen and I had to have it replaced. This year in 2020 AVIVA sent me a letter cancelling my insurance due to "4 events in 4 years" now remember event one the driver stayed, event two the driver ran, event three AVIVA refused to pay, and event four was a rock. I have never had a ticket and have been driving for 20 years, also have NEVER had an AT FAULT accident. Also during event number two the hit and run where the driver fled, the garage that AVIVA insisted that I go to cause an additional 1400.00 in damages to my vehicle. I called their Ombudsperson who naturally sided with AVIVA and I had to pay to repair the 1400.00 in damages out of my own pocket. We had (I say "had" as I am in the process of cancelling) my vehicle, my wife's vehicle and my house insurance with AVIVA - Count yourself very lucky AVIVA that lawyers are so expensive and that you are simply not worth the headache because if I had the time and the energy I would sue them. You treat your customers like garbage. But boy do you guys like to make sure to collect your premiums. Sure like to break your contracts though. Dishonest, lying company.
Terrible experience. I called the first time (2 weeks ago) and was told the other guy's insurance was the only one I needed to contact since his insurance was going to pay for my damages... Now they tell me that I need to go through my insurance and they will contact his insurance... Called again and the customer service is brutal... It took 2 hours being on hold and then the call drops and get no callback. Every number they give me to call back makes me go through the options and put on hold for a minimum of 20 minutes every time. My car was damaged and the other person's insurance company was going to cover it. I don't know why it is so difficult to get this taken care of. I had my policy number, the other guy's policy number, a quote for a new glass... everything. All information was available and nothing is being taken care of. Why am I paying when I have to do all the work?
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I bought a truck and got the replacement insurance from AVIVA. After 3 years of driving, I got a broken windshield. I put a claim for the deductible. However, I am so disappointed during the process. Even the broker helps me to contact them, they used any lies to deny my claim. Such as they changed their policy a year ago. The deductible is not that much, but I finally get the lessons-you can't trust this company anymore. So far, I bought another vehicle, and the broker suggested me to purchase the replacement insurance from AVIVA, you guys definitely my answer-NO!
Longtime RBC insurance customer, absolutely loved them, very fast and responsive. As soon as AVIVA started underwriting for them that all changed. In July of 2017, I was auto-renewed by RBC/AVIVA Without my consent or notification. AVIVA CANCELLED my comprehensive coverage on 2 of my 4 vehicles. One of these was a lease and I am legally obligated to maintain comp coverage. It wasn't until I was denied coverage at a speedy auto glass in FEB 2018 that I was made aware I had no coverage for glass, theft auto hail etc... on 2 cars. Thankfully no harm to me, but I can even begin to imagine if either my leased Acura or diesel pickup without comp coverage were stolen. AVOID AVIVA, sorry RBC, I'll come back if you ditch AVIVA.
I had a windshield replaced on one vehicle years before I owned the second. The second vehicle required a windshield replacement. They stated since I had a windshield replaced years ago under comprehensive that future windshields are no longer covered on all vehicles on my policy and my windshield deductible is 1,000. The man on the phone spoke poor English and was very condescending and rude.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I had purchased auto insurance with NEW CAR REPLACEMENT. My neighbour's tree fell on my car, 1st appraiser came out and the estimate needed roof reconstructed, plus my windshield and frame separated from the roof. The car is literally not safe on the road. Here is the thing, I had left message after message, finally, I reached another person, they claim that they had called me back and left messages, I had asked them when? She changes the conversation then finally she just gave me the date, and I asked what number did they call me? She couldn't provide to me then she had said they will send another appraiser out to give 2nd opinion. I called to collision centre, there was NO 2nd appraiser, I had many professional body shops came out and no one thinks the car would be safe on the road. They are a bunch of dishonest people. For over 39 years of driving, never caused any accident, this sucks

I haven't had a claim in over 10 years and never an accident. I had a rock hit my windshield but was not sure when it happened. They refused the claim saying it's been more than a year but I didn't know for sure when the stone hit the windshield. Before I noticed the crack it was too long to fix. They denied the claim. This company used to work with the broker to help you when you had a claim. Now if you call, they just try to use anything you tell them against you. They find obscure fine print to refuse your claim instead of helping you during a crisis. I've been with them for over 20 years and I'm going elsewhere. They are no longer the company that I signed up with. Now they are happy to take your money but a scheme to find ways, not to payout. You don't stand a chance if you don't deal with insurance companies often. If you have a claim, let someone experienced to talk to them (garage, lawyer..). They are out to rip you off. Now, even if I pay more somewhere else, I'll be ahead if I ever have a claim.
