Keep away

I'm a senior, 70 y.o. I'm with this company for 9 years now and it was a terrible mistake. 9 years ago I had a fender bender claim (small accident on parking). As a retired person I drive occasionally 2011 Dodge, no tickets. Last year I was paying $150/month. This February 1st I didn't get any renewal notice with new premiums (they switched to paperless). I checked deduction from my account - payment jumped from $150 to $220! Incredible increase with no reason. I'm just wondering how much money I lost trusting them and being a loyal customer.

OUTRAGEOUS RATE INCREASE

We are on Vancouver Island, moved from Calgary in 2017. After moving we insured with the basic ICBC coverage and Intact Top Up adding additional 2.8Mill third party plus Collision and Comprehensive on a 2014 Tiguan and a 2012 GMC Sierra Crew cab truck. Both vehicles in good condition with low milage and drivers with full no-claim histories. Costs combined with ICBC per vehicle were not too much more than Calgary - so had no complaints. No claims or tickets incurred during the year. Come to renew and we have been slapped with an overall 38.8% increase! No explanations. We are just over 65 and living in a rural low risk area, pleasure use only. Breakdown of increase - 72% on 3rd party, 27% on Collision and 43% on Comprehensive. Yet again an insurance company seems to know nothing about dealing with the customer. Even though I have been working in business for 40 years as a qualified accountant and my husband an engineer (we know business) we still feel ripped off. Yes there are increased costs in the insurance business - NOT 40% THOUGH. This is an abuse of the consumer.
